Fun, fun, and more fun

We had a fabulous weekend! How about you? I was so happy that my mom and stepdad Steve were able to come visit us for Thanksgiving, and we sure had a great time! We had a super yummy feast on Thursday, and then the boys got their Christmas present early from the G & G. After that was the crazy shopping to follow. On Friday, Steve was supposed to go flying but the weather was too bad so we took a mini tour of Frisco instead. Chris and I were able to go shopping together without the kids for Christmas, and then my mom, Steve and I went to see Breaking Dawn. On Saturday we had a fun filled day full of activates, but again the weather had other plans and it was a wee bit cold to be playing outside so instead we went to a mall (I know, super creative) where the boys got to ride the train with grandma, and then to Arthur Christmas (a very cute movie that I would recommend by the way) only to send G & G on a plane home : ( I really appreciate them coming to visit us. The boys had so much fun playing with Grandma, and Dillon really enjoyed making paper airplanes with Grandpa. It was sad to send them home, Dillon was even crying.
The airport for the paper airplanes that they built with Grandpa
The train ride with Grandma Christmas presents! On Sunday, it was clean house, and put Christmas up! I love this time of the year and it’s always fun to bust out the Christmas bins and see all the fun decorations. The boys had a really good time putting the tree up, and it was fun to have Carson help out this year. (He has just been too little in the past to “help”)
And here we are, back to Monday. A new week full of new adventures I’m sure! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Dillon’s list

This is really sweet. Dillon had to make a turkey, and the feathers had to be things he was grateful for, so here it is: In case you can’t read it, he is thankful for Carson, Sysco truck , mom, trucks, Lego’s, and dad. What a sweet little list!

Following trend…

Being thanksgiving an all, it seems as though everybody everywhere is saying what they are grateful for. I’m not typically a follower, but I have been doing some thinking of my own, and I too have a lot to be grateful for. So if you are interested, here is a small list of things that come to mind.

-My husband! I really picked a good one, because I think he is the best. He is very giving, and is always willing to do whatever it is I ask him to do. One up on being a good husband, is he is the BEST dad ever!!! My kids are REALLY lucky to have him!!! I couldn’t imagine my life without him, and I am truly thankful for him just being him!

-My kids. I know they drive me up one side of the wall and down the other, but they are my whole world. They bring so many smiles to my face, and I love the fact that they love each other.

-I’m thankful for my “job”. The pay sucks, and I never get a bonus, but the benefits far outweigh any salary out there. I truly feel blessed that I have the choice to be with my kids every day. I love that I get to be at school functions. I love that I get to be the first to hear about Dillon’s day at school. I love that I get to spend a good eight hours alone with Carson and watching him be his own cute self. I love to watch the boys play together….. that just melts my heart. I (minus the cleaning) love my job.

-My mom. She is such an important part of my life, and a fantastic grandma too! I love the fact that she is only a phone call away, and I can always count on her for whatever it is I need. I love you mom!

-Family and friends. Since we have been here, I have really missed my friends and family. You know the saying “you never know what you have, until it’s gone”? Well I’m kinda like that. It’s not that I didn’t appreciate them when I lived in SLC, but I sure have noticed that I don’t have them anymore. It makes those relationships even more valuable to me now.

-Coupons & sales. This may be silly to some, but I am thankful for how much money I save with these two wonderful gifts.

-My car. It may be a gas guzzling beast, but it is pretty nice, it holds all my crap and then some, and it gets me where I need to go.

-Our house. I hate the thought of anybody being homeless. We are very lucky to live in a house, with lots of room to run around and play.

-Air conditioning & heaters. I can be a bit unpleasant to be around when I’m hot (I know it’s hard to imagine) and I really am thankful for the cool air to cool me down. The heater…. Well I guess it comes in pretty handy too, but I haven’t had much need for it here, so it’s sort of not on my mind as much.

That’s all for now I think. I know that’s not all I’m grateful for, but those are the things that have been on my mind lately. Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

My baby

I was having a bit of a bummer day yesterday, and what way to make it better than with a diet coke! We hopped in the car and headed to Sonic (it was happy hour, half price drinks with a drive thru is right up my alley). I decided to get the boys one as well, because I love them. When we got to the window, Dillon burst out his wallet and asked me how much because he wanted to buy them. I told him to keep his money, but he insisted on buying all of our drinks! As we were driving away, he just melted my heart by saying “mom, I just love you!” I rarely get that from my six year old anymore, but it just made my heart melt, and my day MUCH better!

Happy

I have to admit that since we have been here in Texas I have been a bit disappointed with a lot of things. My biggest let down had been the “season”. For any of those who know me, fall is by FAR my favoritest time EVER!!!! I love everything about it! I love the feeling of the season, I love the colors, I love that more fun holidays are right around the corner, I love the crisp night air…. I just love it all!!! Well here in Texas, there is no fall : ( In fact is just plain old….. hum, how to put this nicely….. ugly! There is no color anywhere in sight, and no big beautiful mountains to see change color with the gorgeous white snow caps, it’s just flat and brown. There is no “views” to see, it’s just flat farm land. Well I am happy to report that this morning as I was getting Carson’s breakfast I saw this.
It actually made me happy. I know it’s just one little measly tree, but its changing color, and it made me happy.

Trick or Treat

Happy Halloween from Optimus Prime & Bumblebee! The boys had a fun time trick-or-treating. Dillon really surprised me by not going far at all and was ready to go home after only half the neighborhood, but Carson was still going strong. I was actually a little disappointed with Dallas. It was 7:05, and I still didn’t have ONE trick-or-treater! Hope you all had a fun & yummy Halloween!
